Here you can find a list of all songs I usually listen to while I’m working or studying on the computer.

Movies Seen

Here are some of the movies I’ve already seen. If you agree or disagree with any of the comments I’ve made about them or if you would like to suggest me any other movie to see, click here and post a comment. ;-)

:-) O Auto da Compadecida
Genre: Adventure / Comedy / Drama / Romance
Writer: Guel Arraes and Adriana Falcão
Director: Guel Arraes
Main actors: Matheus Nachtergaele, Selton Mello, Rogério Cardoso and Denise Fraga
Country: Brazil
Year: 2000
Comments: The most funny movie I’ve ever seen!! Although we see clear production and direction mistakes, actors are very good and the story is very funny. ;-)

:-| The Break-Up (Separados pelo Casamento)
Genre: Comedy / Drama / Romance
Writer: Jeremy Garelick and Jay Lavender
Director: Peyton Reed
Main actors: Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Aniston, Joey Lauren Adams and Cole Hauser
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: It’s a regular movie. There are some funny and romantic scenes, but it is more for a drama than for a comedy or a romance. However, Jennifer Aniston is pretty beautiful in the movie and makes it worth it watching her. ;-)

:-( Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (Star Wars III: A Vingança dos Sith)
Genre: Action / Adventure / Fantasy / Sci-Fi
Writer: George Lucas
Director: George Lucas
Main actors: Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen and Ian McDiarmid
Country: USA
Year: 2005
Comments: I definitely don’t like the Star Wars movies. I think the sequence of stories is interesting and smart, but the way they are told in the movies does not please me. Maybe it’s just the director’s style that doesn’t delight me. So, I only watched this movie because my sister rented it and I had nothing else to do. Specially, I think this movie is long and boring.

:-) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (Piratas do Caribe 2: O Baú da Morte)
Genre: Action / Adventure / Comedy / Fantasy
Writer: Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio
Director: Gore Verbinski
Main actors: Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and Bill Nighy
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: Just as good as the first one! If you liked Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) you’ll certainly like the second story too. But if you didn’t do it yet, I do recommend that you watch the first movie before going to the second, since there are some scenes that presume the audience has seen the first movie of the series. I really enjoyed it! Full of adventure and funny scenes, besides Captain Jack Sparrow, which is an amazing character!

:-| Final Destination 3 (Premonição 3)
Genre: Drama / Horror / Mystery / Thriller
Writer: Glen Morgan and James Wong
Director: James Wong
Main actors: Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ryan Merriman, Kris Lemche and Alexz Johnson
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: It is neither well written nor directed. Scenes that are supposed to explain the flow of the events are too fast and, unfortunately, become helpless. Furthermore, the flow itself is very poor in creativity. However, scenes of death are very shocking and the thriller holds your attention. I liked pretty much the previous movies: Final Destination (2000) and Final Destination 2 (2003). I do recommend them! ;-)

:-| Poseidon (Poseidon)
Genre: Action / Adventure / Drama / Thriller
Writer: Mark Protosevich and Paul Gallico
Director: Wolfgang Petersen
Main actors: Kurt Russell, Josh Lucas, Richard Dreyfuss and Jacinda Barrett
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: It’s somehow like Titanic (1997), but “Titanic” is pretty better. Although “Poseidon” is well made, it is full of lies, such as the big wave that appears right in the middle of the ocean. How could that be possible? I just can’t realize that! Nevertheless, the actors are quite good and the movie holds your attention from its beginning until the very end.

:-| Kingdom of Heaven (Cruzada)
Genre: Action / Drama / History / War
Writer: William Monahan
Director: Ridley Scott
Main actors: Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson, Eva Green and Jeremy Irons
Country: Spain / UK / Germany / USA
Year: 2005
Comments: Well, I think I didn’t like it very much. Either it is a bit complicated or maybe I was just asleep while watching it. The movie is quite long and a little bit tiring too. There are also several shocking bloody scenes. But, finally, it’s not that bad!

:-) The Omen (A Profecia)
Genre: Drama / Horror / Thriller
Writer: David Seltzer
Director: John Moore
Main actors: Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles, Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick and Vince Valituti
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: It’s a good thriller! Not boring and well written and directed, the movie is a good option for those who like thrillers. There are just a few violent scenes, so that you should not worry about horror scenes. Note also that this is a remake of the horror classic The Omen (1976). Unfortunately, I’ve not watched the original version.

:-) Monster-in-Law (A Sogra)
Genre: Romance / Comedy
Writer: Anya Kochoff
Director: Robert Luketic
Main actors: Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda, Michael Vartan and Wanda Sykes
Country: Germany/USA
Year: 2005
Comments: It’s a romantic comedy movie, but it stresses the comedy in detriment of the romantic scenes. It’s a funny movie! :-D My girlfriend and I really liked it.

:-) The da Vinci Code (O Código da Vinci)
Genre: Drama / Mystery / Thriller
Writer: Dan Brown
Director: Ron Howard
Main actors: Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen and Jean Reno
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: The movie is not so exciting, but it let its interesting message well explained. I’d say it is a thriller, but not very frightening.

:-) Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (Piratas do Caribe: A Maldição do Pérola Negra)
Genre: Action / Adventure / Comedy / Fantasy
Writer: Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio
Director: Gore Verbinski
Main actors: Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley
Country: USA
Year: 2003
Comments: The movie is full of action scenes that make you keep your eyes on the screen. Besides, it is full of jokes and funny scenes that make you laugh a lot. ;-)

:-) The Devil Wears Prada (O Diabo Veste Prada)
Genre: Comedy / Drama
Writer: Aline Brosh McKenna and Lauren Weisberger
Director: David Frankel
Main actors: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: It’s an interesting and funny movie. I was a little bit asleep while watching it late in the evening, but it seemed to be quite fine for me. I’d recommend it.

:-( World Trade Center
Genre: Drama / History
Writer: Andrea Berloff and John McLoughlin
Director: Oliver Stone
Main actors: Maria Bello, Connor Paolo, Anthony Piccininni and Alexa Gerasimovich
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: Urrgh!! Really didn’t like this movie. It is a very boring drama that doesn’t say too much about the 11th September. It’s much like one of those movies full of American heros.

:-( Jarhead (Soldado Anônimo)
Genre: Drama / Biography / War
Writer: William Broyles Jr. and Anthony Swofford
Director: Sam Mendes
Main actors: Jake Gyllenhaal, Scott MacDonald, Peter Sarsgaard and Jamie Foxx
Country: Germany / USA
Year: 2005
Comments: It’s a drama. I shouldn’t say anything else about it, should I? As you may have already noticed from the previous movies, I don’t like dramas. There’s no action or people dying in that movie. It’s just a drama. But, after having watched it, I discovered it is a biography of the author of the book with the same title (Jarhead). So, if you like dramas and you want to see one on the war, go on!

:-) Million Dollar Baby (Menina de Ouro)
Genre: Drama / Sport
Writer: F.X. Toole and Paul Haggis
Director: Clint Eastwood
Main actors: Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank, Morgan Freeman and Jay Baruchel
Country: USA
Year: 2004
Comments: I finally found a good drama. :-x I really don’t know how that can be true... but it is! :-? It is a nice movie. The script is very well written and Morgan Freeman and Clint Eastwood have done a very good job as actors. It’s not one of those boring dramas that we generally see. It’s a drama that takes your attention from the very beginning until the end. Furthermore, there is a nice message that is present all over the movie. So, I recommend it! ;-)

:-) Casino Royale (007 - Cassino Royale)
Genre: Action / Adventure / Thriller
Writer: Neal Purvis and Robert Wade
Director: Martin Campbell
Main actors: Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen and Judi Dench
Country: USA / UK / Czech Republic
Year: 2006
Comments: This movie is really interesting! An action movie full of thriller scenes. That’s the best definition I can give you! Furthermore, the script is very well written! Not too long, not too short. Really recommend it! ;-)

:-( Hostel (O Albergue)
Genre: Horror
Writer: Eli Roth
Director: Eli Roth
Main actors: Paxton, Josh, Oli and Natalya
Country: USA
Year: 2005
Comments: Just don’t watch that movie! It’s more like a comedy than an horror movie. Doesn’t worth it.

:-( United 93 (Vôo 93)
Genre: Drama / History
Writer: Paul Greengrass
Director: Paul Greengrass
Main actors: Thomas E. Burnett Jr., Sandra Bradshaw, Todd Beamer and Mark Bingham
Country: France / UK / USA
Year: 2006
Comments: Didn’t like it. It doesn’t seem to be real, although it is based on real facts.

:-( Ultraviolet (Ultravioleta)
Genre: Action / Sci-Fi / Thriller
Writer: Kurt Wimmer
Director: Kurt Wimmer
Main actors: Violet, Six, Daxus and Nerva
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: Didn’t like it. It is too complicated. At least, it seems to be complicated because the director didn’t know how to present the story. Although, I couldn’t stop watching it just because of Milla Jojovich’s beauty. Oh, she is pretty!! =)

:-| 16 blocks (16 quadras)
Genre: Action / Drama / Thriller
Writer: Richard Wenk
Director: Richard Donner
Main actors: Bruce Willis, Mos Def, David Morse and Jenna Stern
Country: Germany / USA
Year: 2006
Comments: It’s not one of best movies I’ve seen with Bruce Willis, but it’s “watchable”. :-) I think it missed some creativity and more action for this movie. Everything seems to be so easy and calm, that sometimes it looks more like a drama. But there is a message in the end. :-D

:-( Ice Age: The Meltdown (A Era do Gelo 2)
Genre: Animation / Adventure / Comedy / Family
Writer: Gerry Swallow and Peter Gaulke
Director: Carlos Saldanha
Main actors: Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and Seann William Scott
Country: USA
Year: 2006
Comments: No action at all! A very monotonous movie, with very poor script and direction.

:-) The Ladykillers (Matadores de Velhinhas)
Genre: Comedy / Crime
Writer: William Rose and Joel Coen
Director: Ethan Coen and Joel Coen
Main actors: Tom Hanks, Irma P. Hall, Marlon Wayans and J.K. Simmons
Country: USA
Year: 2004
Comments: Very funny!! I really liked it! It seems to be made for kids, but, unless I’ve not already grown up, it made laugh. =) I recommend it!

Genre: Drama
Writer: Sebastián Campos

Genre: Crime
Writer: Franck Mancuso
Director: Franck Mancuso
Main actors: Jean Dujardin, Laurent Lucas, Agnès Blanchot and Aurélien Recoing
Country: France
Year: 2007
Comments: Intriguing movie! Very good script, actors and director!

:-| Ghost Rider (Motoqueiro Fantasma)
Genre: Action / Fantasy / Thriller
Writer: Mark Steven Johnson
Director: Mark Steven Johnson
Main actors: Matt Long, Raquel Alessi, Brett Cullen and Peter Fonda
Country: USA
Year: 2007
Comments: Although the movie has a good script and could be fascinating, Nicolas Cage and Raquel Alessi are two very bad actors! Moreover, I think the director didn’t do a good job. So, the movie is only “watchable”... But don’t pay too much to watch it!!

:-| Ice Princess (Sonhos no Gelo)
Genre: Comedy / Drama / Family / Sport
Writer: Meg Cabot and Hadley Davis
Director: Tim Fywell
Main actors: Joan Cusack, Kim Cattrall, Michelle Trachtenberg and Hayden Panettiere

Director: Rupert Wainwright
Main actors: Tom Welling, Maggie Grace, Selma Blair and DeRay Davis

Genre: Crime / Drama / Thriller
Writer: Martin Stellman and Brian Ward
Director: Sydney Pollack

Books Read

:-X J’ai survécu à Auschwitz
Author: Krystyna Zywulska
Publisher: tCHu
Year: 2004
Comments: This book is very interesting and shocking. It describes the history of Krystyna Zywulska, who survived Auschwitz. Everyone should read this to realize how much evil a human been can do to someone else and that prejudice is worthless.

:-D A Briefer History of Time (Uma Nova História do Tempo)
Author: Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow
Publisher: Unknown
Year: 2005
Comments: A very interesting book!! It presents a tour through the evolution of the Physics from the first philosophical thoughts of Aristoteles until the newest theories on the universe’s shape, evolution and basic components. I shouldn’t have to say that other important characters such as Sir. Isaac Newton, Galileu Galilei and Albert Einstein are also present in the book. Furthermore, although about Physics, its content is not dense and few formulas are presented. Besides, the language is clearly understandable even for those who don’t like Physics so much. So, I do recommend it!

:-D The da Vinci Code (O Código da Vinci)
Author: Dan Brown
Publisher: Sextante
Year: 2003
Comments: It is surely one of Dan Brown’s best thrillers. Simply a world wide best-seller that keeps your attention since the beginning and continues on until the last word. Although many controversies about the veracity of the facts presented in the narrative about Jesus’ marriage with Maria Magdalena, we should never forget that this book is a romance, i.e. it is not a scientific book intended to reveal a truth based on scientific research. As Dan Brown himself said in an interview published in his site, he just wanted to make religious people think about their spiritual beliefs. Maybe, after reading the book, you should take a look at this article. But don’t stop there! Go look for other opinions about it too. I myself don’t agree with some affirmations made by the author of that article. ;-)

:-) Sofies verden (O Mundo de Sofia)
Author: Jostein Gaarder
Publisher: Unknown
Year: 1991
Comments: It is an interesting romance that shows an overview of the Philosophy’s history. It gets you interested in the end of the story. However, when we get closer to the end, it gets boring. But that is understandable, since it is quite big and a little bit repetitive. But, specially if you like to learn about Philosophy and ancient philosophers such as Socrates and Voltaire, you should read it.
